Summary/Notes:
Pastor Kelley used the story of the Prodigal Son from Luke 15 to illustrate a powerful message about how often we settle for less when God offers so much more.
He began by reminding us that every decision we make carries consequences. Many times, the difficult situations we face can be traced back to one bad choice—whether it's walking away from God, joining the wrong crowd, or chasing after things that don’t satisfy. Like the Prodigal Son, we can waste our lives on the empty things of this world, looking for fulfillment but always ending up in want.
One of the most striking points Pastor Kelley made was about how we often join ourselves to the wrong people or influences. These "citizens of another country," as he called them, can pull us away from God and make it harder for us to see the blessings waiting for us in our Father’s house. It’s a warning for us to be mindful of who we allow into our lives, especially when we're struggling spiritually.
But the main message was about God's provision. Pastor Kelley emphasized that there is always bread in our Father’s house—meaning that no matter how far we've strayed or how much we've wasted, there is always grace, forgiveness, and restoration waiting for us when we return to God. He reminded us that the bread is enough for everyone, no matter our background, situation, or the mistakes we've made.
He left us with the challenge to reflect on our own lives:
Are we settling for less?
Are we holding onto things that leave us spiritually empty, or are we coming back to the Father’s house to receive the fullness of what He has for us?
The message was clear: God’s house is open, and there is more than enough for everyone—but we have to make the choice to return and partake of it.
